Abiding Numpties

I’ve always enjoyed British humor. Cutting, sardonic, even biting at times. It probably evolved from a World ruling Monarchy that now can barely keep its own house in order, leaving a crushed ego behind.

The word Numpty is one of those sardonic British words that refers to an untalented beginner who insists on getting in the way of everyone else and is usually oblivious to their own lack of talent.

I’ve been playing hard outdoors my entire life; even professionally at times. I’ve developed a set of skills that allow me to enjoy playing outdoors at a very high level. I’m proud of my talents. It took time and loss of flesh to get there.

A raging Pandemic has chased a lot of Numpties outdoors. I applaud their desire to be outside and enjoy the fresh air. Acceptance and inclusion are now politically corrected terms for these folks but first of all: you have to actually show up to be included and second: acceptance is like respect, it needs to be earned.

I promise to try and abide those less fortunate than I am as they insist on running out of talent at awkward moments but for Christ’s sake, when I ring my bell, move the fuck over.

To be clear, the literal definition of a ‘Numpty’ comes from an old Scottish slang word for an idiot or fool.

Got something to say? Lemeno.
