Christopher Columbus wasn’t that great of a guy. He conned the royalty of Spain to pay for his trips abroad. He was a terrible sailor and just about drowned or deceived everybody who worked for him. He was constantly lost and thought the Bahamas were the north American mainland. He raped, pillaged and diseased the natives almost into oblivion. Yet we still celebrate this guy by shutting down schools and most of the Government….wait, that part’s not such a bad idea.
