So…Elon Musk marries Donald Trump, which is happening as I write, becoming The Mump. Appropriate. A long time infectious disease, The Mumps, starts to get confused. Let’s sort this out, shall we:

Both are, well, infectious diseases caused by a virus. No difference there

The Mumps’ symptoms which include:

• Fatigue (feeling tired for no reason)
• Fever
• Headache
• Loss of appetite
• Muscle aches or joint pain
• Weakness
• Dry mouth
• Mild belly pain
• Trouble chewing
• Swollen tongue
• Testicle pain or tenderness
• Ear pain

can be alleviated with medication. The other which include very similar symptoms, are probably incurable even under the influence of medication.

Both have a nasty rash and swelling associated with them. Not sure which one is worse.

Both leave a sticky mucous like substance in the mouth and throat . Again, the Mumps do eventually disappear.

And so it appears, by a slim margin, that it’s better have a disease than listen to one.
